Switzerland and the WHO Pandemic Accord.

In collaboration with the Parliamentary Group Global Health, the Swiss Global Health Hub - an initiative by Swiss Malaria Group and the Swiss Alliance Against Neglected Tropical Diseases - organise an event during the Spring session. The event will focus on Switzerland and the WHO Pandemic Accord.

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted various weaknesses in international cooperation and the coordination of global health actors. In order to be better prepared for a future pandemic, the member states of the World Health Organisation (WHO) have spoken out in favour of a pandemic treaty coordinated by the WHO. The treaty is to be adopted at the World Health Assembly in May 2024. Public reactions in Switzerland and parliamentary initiatives show that some of the treaty's measures are controversial. The session event offers the opportunity to exchange information with the Swiss head of negotiations, Ambassador Nora Kronig, and two experts.

Speakers:

- Ambassador Nora Kronig, Deputy Director of the Federal Office of Public Health, Head of the International Affairs Division

- Prof Dr Ilona Kickbusch, global health expert and member of the Global Prepardness Monitoring Board

- Prof Dr Jürg Utzinger, Director of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH)
