Instantly Saudat received injectable artesunate (Artesun® 60mg). It alleviated the severity of her malaria and saved the three year old’s life. The Swiss Malaria Group Member Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) supported the producer of the drug, Guilin Pharmaceutical, in achieveing the WHO’s standards for pre qualification. Since then MMV has been working with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) to increase the use of this medicine in Nigeria.

"Working with malaria is a major challenge," says Pierre Hugo, employee of MMV. "To see how Saudat recovered so quickly was incredible. It is a very satisfying to see a product product, whose use we have supported, seen in use and it is an honor that this product helps health services save lives every day.”
